Ribe is Denmark's and Scandinavia's oldest town. Our town's history can be traced back to the early Viking Age in the beginning of the 8th. century. (Between 704 and 710)

Ribe celebrates its 1300th anniversary in 2010 - The celebrations will be many and last for months. We can promise you that there will be much to look forward to.

The Museum Ribe’s Vikings – Museum of the Viking era and the Middle Ages. Thousands of artifacts found during recent archaelogical excavations in Ribe. A journey taking you from the year 700 to the year 1700 and right through Ribe's dramatic history. Films about Vikings and Halls of historic experiences.           

         Different activities during the year. In 2010 the museum presents

         a new and improved exhibition on Ribe’s oldest period - from 700-1050, a new

         and improved version of the film Vikings of Ribe, read hear what is going on:

Ribe Viking Centre - Ribe when the Vikings lived here. Ribe Viking Centre reconstructs and revitalizes the culture which formed the base of the Viking eras grandeur. See the falconer and his birds of prey, the main farm and Icelandic horses and the Viking ship docked by the market place.

         Denmark's largest Viking market every year during the first weekend

         of May. Approximately 300 Vikings journey to Ribe. Because of Ribe's 1300

         years celebration in 2010 the Viking Market will last from 1st to 9th May
